What Is This Book About?
Saeris Fane knows how to survive. In the brutal desert kingdom of Zilvaren, water is everything, and she’s been stealing it straight from the Undying Queen’s reservoirs to keep herself and her little brother alive. It’s risky as hell—water (and magic) is tightly controlled, and getting caught means death. But when a man who looks like Death incarnate literally shows up, things take a sharp turn.
One moment, she’s scraping by in the slums. The next, she’s yanked into Yvelia — a frozen, deadly Fae realm straight out of myth. And because her luck is that bad, she ends up bound to Kingfisher, a broody, battle-scarred Fae warrior with a past just as messy as hers. He’s got his own agenda. Saeris just wants to go home.
Too bad the magic she’s spent her whole life hiding is suddenly the key to an ancient war, and everyone — Fae, humans, gods — wants a piece of her. Between navigating a treacherous court, a power she barely understands, and the infuriating pull between her and Kingfisher, survival isn’t looking great.
But it sure makes for one hell of a story.
“Nobody will ever fuck you the way I’m about to fuck you, Saeris fane. I’m about to introduce you to all seven gods. When you meet them, don’t forget to tell them I’m the one you worship on your knees.” - Kingfisher

“I hadn’t seen many beautiful things in my short life. But, of all the beautiful things I had seen, Fisher was the most beautiful of all.” - Saeris
My Take (Very Minor Spoilers)
I kept seeing Quicksilver mentioned in romantasy groups on Facebook, but I resisted picking it up because of the cover. It looks very… how do I put this? Angsty. Something about a guy who looks like he’s crying just didn’t appeal to me.
But then I saw that Netflix had acquired the rights in a seven-figure deal. Like, holy shit. If they were willing to drop that kind of money, there had to be something special about this series, right?
So I grabbed Quicksilver on Kindle Unlimited and from the first chapters, I was hooked. Saeris Fane is fierce, brave, and refuses to back down — even while living in a poverty-stricken ward under the rule of the ruthless Undying Queen. And not only does she have a backbone, but she can fight. Her mother made sure of that, and let me tell you, Saeris kicks ass.
Of course, her tendency to bend the rules in the name of survival eventually lands her in trouble. When she’s caught, the Queen orders her execution. Saeris holds her own against the guards, but she’s outnumbered, and just as she’s bleeding out, a fierce warrior — who she thinks is Death himself — swoops in and drags her into the fae realm.
Enter our MMC, Fisher. He’s broody, mysterious, completely dismissive, and Saeris hates his guts. And honestly? He seems to hate her too.
This book is only from the FMC’s POV, and while I did miss getting into the MMC’s head we do eventually understand his motivations filtered through Saeris. The tension between them was a crackling, undeniable, god-just-kiss-already kind of push-pull.
No spoilers, but everything shifts about halfway through, and it is good. We’ve got twists, we’ve got lore, we’ve got character development. By the end, I was fully obsessed with Fisher, even though at one point, he made me want to chuck my Kindle across the room. (I restrained myself.)
If you’re looking for a fae-inspired romantasy with phenomenal world-building, character growth, and political intrigue that actually surprises you, pick this one up. Fair warning: it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. But with book two dropping in November 2025 at least we won’t have to wait too long to find out what happens next.
I just found this and immediately came to tell you!!!

This was the quote I used in my personal book review!
Maybe we'll get duo POV next book. The single POV was a nice refresher after so many dual POV I have been reading recently.
